And this is knitting done while I am not distracted...i.e. kids not around...I can't get it...it is not working right now.

Little progress done on the perfect sweater...I'm up the armhole shaping on the front (back is done) and then just the sleeves (thank god I have short....well I was going to say arms...but I guess all of me is short)

I knit and ripped and knit again the jaywalkers. Aparently all my talk about mindless knitting doesn't work if you have the wrong pattern in your head.

oh yes....and my new toy

And I have actually looked at the spinning wheel....not to be confused with any actual spinning.

Maternity Leave?

I guess my life is finally back...well as back as it can be going through a divorce and having 4 kids 5 and under including a newborn. But I have actually had a few minutes to knit so I guess that might mean things are stabilizing. I've got another few inches of the entralac sock and have started the second jaywalker. I love the jaywalker because it has a little pattern but still easy enough to do while driving. Yes all you frightened people I have a sock that stays in my car that I knit while driving...before I get people emailing me how dangerous that is...I don't actually knit while the car is moving (well maybe a little) but I make between 1 and 3 school runs every day...it is about 6 miles and takes somewhere in the neighborhood of half an hour each way depending on the time of day. So as you can see there may be a stoplight...or twenty or maybe a train or twenty along the way. I don't see myself as a particularly fast knitter ...kinda medium. So I'm back...but no pictures today..next time I promise. But when is next time you ask (since my mother reads my blog just to make sure I'm still alive). I'm going to try for at least 3 times a week.

Yeah it's been a while...

and currently there is no actual knitting. It's a necessary evil. I have some...not too much....but some. A plan in my head. Now what to do when your asked to put it down on paper...PANIC. The sad fact of Christmas knitting (I'm glad we don't really celebrate Hanukkah...I would have been sooo screwed soo long ago it ain't even funny) is that you can't blog it. It's all a secret...I can talk about the Mobius scarfs for a couple aunts...cause they barely have touch tone phones...but the other ones...way too techy. You just have to wait for something to happen to your knitting worth talking about to blog about it. And I don't really want a "something" to happen to my knitting. The two year old pulled out a chunk of stitches on a project the other day and still can't really talk about it. The only good something would be waking up to a neck high pile of wonderful luxurious yarn to cuddle and dream to my hearts content or a pack of elves to finish (and start) it all for me. They are even welcome to make some stuff for the people that I haven't figured out if/what I'm knitting. And that darn str sock keeps calling me...I'm going to have to tie up and gag that thing before I'm way too far behind for even Boxing Day! So because of all the Christmas secrets you get....

This....

This... I know...looks like yarn....a skein at that...did I mention the other skeins are still at the store.

And this.... Yeah...I know looks alot like roving...told ya I'm screwed!

So basically Christmas knitting list in my fantasy land head....managable.....on paper...scarey....next year remind me just to keep it in my head...oh yeah...and knit faster and hide the sock yarn....and.....

My apologies to the state of Wisconsin

Well except for Milwaukee who reported a decrease in crime during the storm. As everyone knows I am part of the Yahoo group Elizabeth's Year and we are working through the Knitters Almanac. Well as usual my knitting is never hitch-less??? I'm not even really sure I should totally be blamed since I did rip out what I had started of the Last Minute December project in the book and since I have sooooooo much other Christmas knitting plus I didn't even bring it with me on my weekend trip to Wisconsin. But as it snowed and snow and snowed, and blew and blew and blew...all day Saturday. I couldn't help but thinking about the December chapter in the Knitters Almanac about being snowed in. I would have likely gotten way more knitting done being snowed in if it weren't for the kids I brought along. I still somehow felt guilty - at least to the people trying to drive around....if you were stuck at home with your knitting.....Your Welcome!

I Will Not Tempt Fate

As a rule...I am not a blocker. The lace shawl...tried my best...but it really isn't my thing. I have actually been knitting. The first Tuesday of every month I can't help but think of our dear Yarn Harlot. For as some may recall it is on the first Tuesday of the month that they test the sirens here in Chicago. I never really noticed them before but now...every time I hear them I think of poor poor Steph trying to hide under a bed in a Hotel room in Chicago wondering how crazy all these people must be to just be walking down the street like the world is not ending. I'm not saying that here in Chicago that wouldn't be the case (you'd think someone might react) but I can imagine it would not quite get the attention it would deserve in this fine city!

The Janet Shawl is done and blocked...as best as a pregnant woman with 3 children in a very small house who has never blocked anything (shhh) can block a huge lace shawl which only took slightly over 2 times the suggested?!? amount of yarn. I have pictures...I swear I have pictures....what I don't have at the moment in the cable. Yep...as usual always got it together for these posts. Dad's socks....1 done the other half way down the foot....done soon. Started socks for the dear oldest girl who has been begging and begging and will finally get socks from the yarn that I bought while I was in Amsterdam. Perfect Sweater (Mason Dixon) started....back done front started. Mystery stole 3...pitiful..but still moving along. I've only started a few new things...never did start the monkey socks and never did find the str yarn...and have gotten the latest shipment...and just last night I walked past where I thought I put it and didn't see it...I think someone is stealing yarn!!! So I swear I will post pictures of all the stuff in progress sometime...maybe even today!

A Parallel Dimension

Can sock yarn escape to the place where socks go when you put them in the dryer? Technically it's a sock(s)it just hasn't been knit yet. Are there monsters (villains, trolls, elves) that sneak up the stairs - since in my case we keep the dryer sequestered in the basement and steal (sockknap, yarnknap) socks and now <gasp> yarn? Is the dryer merely one portal of many that sock and now <gasp> sock yarn can disappear (transport) to this parallel dimension where sock and socks that are not yet socks...just potential socks live. Which raises the question - How does sock yarn know that it is going to be socks? Does it have to have a clear plan (this yarn did) or be merely dk weight or thinner? Are there sweaters walking?? around on this far off planet? I have some extremely bulky socks that I have been trying in earnest to lose yet they keep turning up one at a time in the oddest of places. Have they tired to get through the portal and have been pushed back time and time again because they do not conform to the standards of residency of this unknown place.

Well whatever it is....I've lost my socks that rock for the next pattern and I am now forced to start the Monkey Socks. Now if only I can remember where I put my needles...

Someone Stop Me!

I am so not a joiner. Not to say that I don't go with the flow - but I certainly don't follow the knitting crazes and jump on the bandwagon with ever next must have must knit thing. I have never contemplated knitting a Clapotis - haven't knit Icarus (maybe thought about it). So yes I am a member of the STR Club - But it's for the learning experience. I always knit the monthly pattern with the monthly yarn...no changes...even if I am a month behind. I still consider myself a pretty new knitter and use STR Club and Six-Sox KAL to learn something new and challenge myself. I have yet to cast on the new STR shipment from a few weeks ago since I'm working on some totally gripping and intriguing black socks for my dh (meaning changes with the day...insert your own adjective). No really black sock knit in stockinette are soooo exciting!! Really!!! Okay yeah - I know I need a life!

Plus now I've got the Mystery Stole 3 which isn't so much a mystery anymore since every other person on the planet finished knitting it ages ago. (Okay so maybe I am a bit of a joiner)

But back to the point...someone stop me....I'm going to cast on some monkey socks any moment now. I have the yarn laying out...some nice hand painted stuff....

The only thing I need less than another WIP...not to mention another WIP which happens to be socks is more sock yarn - Wait....maybe I do need more sock yarn!

Stay tuned....This may all pass!

I told you all!!!

Like I'm going to find time to blog and hang out at Ravelry 24/7. Not really sure what to think I didn't think this neighborhood had gone the way of packing heat while doing yard work. But what do I know. But then I ask....is the neighborhood safer when you have a uniformed officer (okay so I would used the word officer lightly...but he was uniformed!) make your neighborhood safer???? yes? no? makes no difference? I'm staying home full time (if you don't count the whole working from home thing). (most of my pictures are on the work computer...so no pictures today) Pretty much to the 4 year olds and 2 year old here are much more mature then the 40 something and 20 somethings at work. So here I sit. I have a great view so i really can't complain....and I'm all of 15 feet from the hot tub...so all and all it's pretty cushy...oh yeah...and the 2 feet from my bed thing is nice too. I'm done with one of the Victorian lace socks and turned the heel on the second. The Janet Shawl (which I keep in Wisconsin) is coming along nicely and I'm over half-way through the rounds. I've join the mystery shawl 3 (yeah like I need something else to start) and started on a baby booty in angora! I love this pattern (and yarn) that pattern is from Last minute knitted gifts and it's so easy. I've made tons of these booties for everyone I know (with babies)now I finally get to make some for myself (shhhh!!!!)The rest of the pictures are on the computer we were using at home but I gave it to the kids now....so I have my old (new) pc (yik) which has a grand total of nothing on it (picture-wise) so no pictures today...sorry....next time (or ask my kids to email em to you if your that desperate to see my knitting)

Curses...Airport Security

Okay yes so I'm still bitter at the airport security at the Brussels airport. They took 6 - size 1 addi circs. Never mind that I managed to take them into the country...but I'm sure it was way to risky to take them out. The sad part is that I was going to give them to my sister to take home...but they were way to dear to me. So now some strange man in Brussels' wife is happily knitting away on 3 socks. Okay...so yes this was about a year ago. But you just can't replace that many Addis at one time without it nicking the yarn budget a little.

So basically my gripe is...I only have one sock on the needles currently....and that is...<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Bj5A1KXsY-Y/Rnw0uyqM8CI/AAAAAAAAAGM/iIOB8AR-9u8/s200/100_2159.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5078992458244485154" /> That is the Victorian Lace Sock from Six-Sock-KAL yahoo group.

But now my STR June yarn came and I'm stuck staring at it. See what I mean...that would make anyone bitter!

And for the 3rd circ (see I have this all planned out on needles I don't own anymore) would be a nice mindless sock. Without one I have way less time to knit....seems that the other parts of my life require my mind so therefore I need mindless knitting. I have none.

I have been keeping the shawl from hell...otherwise known to better knitters than I (with obviously longer short-term memories) as the Janet Shawl from Knitpicks up in Wisconsin. It's been getting a couple rounds a week done on it. Now stash yarn....whole 'nother ballgame. Let's start with....When did I buy it? Answer: Last year maybe? Next: Where did I buy it? Answer: Oh now there is a tricky one....Wisconsin maybe? But where....it's a big state you know. So this weekend I am off to the two yarn shops within 3 miles to figure out where I bought it and if they have any. Yes there are 2 yarn shop near my summer home in the middle of nowhere....the closest retail outlets to my summer home a gas station and 2 yarn shops...do I know how to pick a place or what.<img style="cursor: pointer; by Cat Bordhi. I swear to you this woman is a genius! I just love this sock. This is such a quick knit and it feels great on. I thought it would be thick with 2 strands held together but it really isn't...or at least not as thick as I thought it would be...just nice and cushy! The technique is awesome and tons of fun. I still can't get the hang of wrapping stitches (well I get the hang of wrapping...I'm not quite that dumb) I can't seem to figure out how to pick up the wraps. I hope tomorrow to have the match to this. Oh yeah...did I mention...I love this sock! If you choose to knit the sock there is a mistake in the pattern. It says to take the sole stitches and put them on the instep needle but it's actually the other way around.

Randomness

The Coriolis sock by Cat Bordhi as seen on Knitty Gritty

And little progress on the Socks for Soldiers Sock

On the way to the butcher shop last weekend we came across the parts to a huge windmill to be placed on a wind farm in Iowa. My feets in my socks!
Nope never did occur to me until this very moment that a good picture of sock with a cable would maybe be of the actual cable. Yes I know...I'm brilliant.

Here is the Daffodil cloth from the dishcloth KAL. Very nice and springy and happy!

This might be another reason I'm not blogging. Our dear summer place is open and well with that come no Internet because apparently in the middle of the middle of nowhere they don't believe in cell towers. (There were some soaring hawks in the picture but I don't actually see them now but I swear they were there when I ran outside to take the picture.)

And here are some very angry geese...if you want to know my theory on why they're angry...email me sometime....my husband does not agree with the theory tho....men!

I am almost positive that my yarn fell out of the car and we drove away without it. It almost happened again. <gasp>

For mother's day I got some cute little flowers (that they planted themselves) and cards from my kids along with a lounge chair from my DH for our deck you will find me there knitting to my hearts content (so long as Franklin keeps on knitting otherwise I'll be indoors in my parka under a blanket if you need me.)

</gasp>

If anyone finds some black yarn...

along the side of the road between Illinois and Wisconsin. Let me know. It's mine. Not too sure how it happened but it's gone. Came home to find to find the yarn on dhs' sock severed about 3 feet from the sock. I have searched high and low for the yarn and I have no explanation for its whereabouts except the side of the road somewhere. To make matters worse. The day before I snap both handles on the Lantern Moon bag that I had the sock in. I was taking my oldest out of the shopping cart at Wal-mart and her foot caught in it.

On a better knitting front. Much progress has been made on the STR now that I have more time since we've opened up our summer place. I waited and waited for my size 0 needles to come in. They still haven't so I had to use some huge metal Boyle ones. Not the end of the world just takes some getting used to.

We went trout fishing on Saturday. The kids loved it and the fish were great.

No progress has been made on the Claude's Louie-ghan.
I've been working furiously on the fore-mentioned STR. I have nothing....actually nothing..really nothing at all on the needles. I hate when this happens. Yes it has happened before. I usually know it's going to happen and I brace for it. It happens usually after a holiday or anything other major gift-giving time (i.e. the clustered birthday in my family). So now what do I start. I do have a sleeve of a sweater from the big girl knits book so yes technically I do have something "one the needles" tho it really doesn't have a needle in it. I could work on that...but I have to find the book first. I moved all my stuff out of the office since it was in the way too much. But I think I may have to move it back even tho I like having my wheel at home. (picture to follow tomorrow). It's pretty sad that I can't find a place for my things since I really don't have all that much stuff. I'm thinking of a hat out my hand spun but I don't wear hats and I don't imagine I'm going to start any time soon no matter how much pride I take in my handiwork. So really any ideas would be great...pass them along. Maybe tomorrow there will be some news as to what I have started.

I'm sure at this point everyone on the planet has heard about the Sock that Rock Club thing. I'm sure there are people out there that cannot believe that this would happen. I most likely would have been one of those people. You think that sort of thing just does not happen...there must be something they aren't telling us. Well I am here to say that I have had that happen to my business not once but twice...yes folks twice. The first time we worked it out with the credit card people (who were holding the money for safe keeping) and they finally after 6 months let us have the money. The second time (which was recently and a different company...this time an online source) they did exactly what is happening to the wonderful people at blue moon. We talked to them and tried to work with them but they insisted that even though no one ever called to complain or even ask about a charge on their credit card that they would return eveyone's money. It's a very tough situation to be in. You take someone's credit card it's approved - you hand them they're merchandise - they go home use it, enjoy, love it and have no complaints - but now the credit card company gives them back their money....what sense does that make?????!??!?!?! None I can see. I am with Stephanie - The Yarn Harlot I want to know who these people are because as you can see from my track record they will be my next bank I will go through this once again. So really for my safety I need to know...and I want to knock some sense into them too!!!!

A few pictures

Just a few pictures becuse I'm way too tired from this week to type anyting coherent!

The new (or not so new) baby. It started out on New Year's Day (or was it eve) thinking that I really need to get back to this blog (it the thought that counts right?). Then I started thinking about how to get more knitting done in the new year. Now mind you...I'm thinking of all of this in the hot tub and not while I was doing any actual knitting nor spinning merely thinking about knitting and spinning (more on spinning later). I started thinking....well if Stephanie Pearl-McPhee can do a sock a day (and yes I think of her many times a day...don't you? It's the knitters version of wwjd...i.e. there must be some humor in all this crazy crap that keeps happening to me)...why not me...why am I the sock a month gal (but yet I knit every day...must have something to do with monogamy!) Then it stuck me...I'm sure she's not sitting on this fine day in the hot tub she's probably knitting! I'm just choosing activities that are not really yarn friendly...we all know...wool and hot churning water do not mix! Then there is that whole sleep thing....have to figure out a way to get around that one. Then <gasp> I started thinking that spinning is getting in the way of my knitting time. At that point I thought the w</gasp><gasp>ater might be a little too hot and maybe I'd been in a little too long.
</gasp>
<gasp>Now with all the Christmas knitting done I can finally divulge what I have been knitting. Yes I know it's not like I've been posting all this time and keeping it all from you....really I didn't post because I didn't think I could trust myself not to tell...yeah that's it! Well for Christmas I made my sister a tank top, my nieces each got sweaters with furry colors, my brother-in-law felted slippers, my other brother-in-law and sister-in-law a blanket knit on needles so large I'm not sure they can be called needles, and my husband's great-aunt slippers from her mother's pattern (if you could call it that). So on to the pictures of all these gifts</gasp>
<gasp>
.....oh yeah that's right...I didn't take a single one! I'm good huh? So maybe if any of the recipients are so moved (except for aunt carol who has neither a camera nor Internet access) I would love some pictures of the lovely knitted things you all got for Christmas. Since I got nothing knitted (or even knit realated) from anyone (except my lovely sister...very cool needles and yes they can be called that (barely)) I'll just have to look at all of yours!

Currently since I'm a month a sock gal...the sock of the month (going on 2...that's months not socks) I hope to have these done soon and maybe make a couple kids sock since they have been begging.
</gasp>

yeah yeah long time again

I have been putting this off and putting this off and can do it no longer. I will post the pictures that I do have right here right now on this computer I have knit and unknit and knit again over and over and over.

I'm happy that sweater season is back again with a vengence here in the windy city. I hate winter but at least it inspires me to knit. I knit half-way a shawl and while waiting for additional yarn to arrive that I wasn't supposed to need. I lost the page of directions with my notes and my place in the pattern. Who gets half way through a shawl and runs out of yarn when it says two skeins and you buy two skeins. If anyone has run into this with the knitpicks Janet shawl let me know. Even if you have just knit the Janet shawl let me know how I managed this and what I am doing wrong. It is currently sitting back in ball state in the wait list since CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!!! I have a long list of christmas knitting and not nearly enough time nor hands to do it all I'm sure. I have 2 things completed but I can't say what they are since at least one of the recipients can read and may stumble over here. But alas on to pictures and enough of my dribble.

This is the Janet Shawl that does not look like this anymore...it looks remarkabley more like 2 balls of yarn. Maybe someday it will look like this again but not before christmas.

These are a couple halter tops that I found in easy knitting or something like that. There were very simple and cranked them both out in a day. The I-cord is what takes the longest and is way to long if following the directions...next time I will measure the I cord on the kids and stop knitting when it fits!
.

Alright I'll do it

I keep putting this off for one reason or another. I'm so thrilled to have some cute yellow finches visit me. I don't think I've seem them at the feeder before. I saw one and ran to get the camera and hoped and hoped that it still be there when I got back. Well I got really lucky...not only was (s)he there when I got back but another one as well....how cool! That really made my day. I saw one again this morning. I love it when unique (at least to me) birds stop by the yard. I'm sure most people think I'm a bit nuts getting all excited but here in the city it's a big deal. Back in March we even had a hawk stop by on the deck. That was just amazing.

I'm down to the foot on both glad ragg socks and hope to finish those this weekend. Then I would like to start on the April May pattern that totally missed and take it with me to Holland (hopefully). Then when I get back I'll have to jump on and find out what the august pattern is. I hope I can hold out!!! I also got down past the armholes on the top-down sweater...just have to get to 16 inches I think and then 2 sleeves. It's an easy knit! I will take pictures of them tomorrow and hopefully have them up if my dear hubby doesn't run off with the camera again.

May the Force Be With You!

Did you know that ball winders don't come with a recommended speed limit? I think they should. I was winding to my hearts content and all of a sudden yarn flew past my face. It took me a minute to realize (and stop my hand) what had actually happened. There lay a chunk of my dear yarn on the floor. Centrifugal force is a mighty force I find. Off went my yarn into the wild blue yonder and back down again in a tangled lump on the floor. Just then 2 screaming 3 year-olds need me to extract a bug from the bouncy thing outside and it is a matter of life and death. Well I'm really really sorry my sweet children but don't you see this mass of tangled yarn...that is more a matter of life and death (and cannot be left unattended due to said 3 year olds and their charming little brother. Finally I conquer the yarn and go off in search of the offending bug. It is 1 (count it 1) rolly poly bug on a rather large bouncey. So I pick up the bug and toss him on the grass....the whole while the children are screaming because I am touching a bug. My dear children how did you expect me to get him off there....you did ask me to do that didn't you?

I have finished my color blox socks for the six-sox KAL. Imagine me finished with the socks... and it's not even the middle of the month. What is wrong with this picture. So with all my spare time I will be starting the glad ragg socks from April which never did happen. I was going to start them this weekend. I had all my lovely beads strung and finished 6 rounds of 8 rounds total of rib and hit a knot. I have never experienced the horror of all knitters...the knot. So why now...that I have beads strung do I hit my first knot...can't ignore that. But alas Murphy's Law another great force!

I also started on a sweater just like the ones I made for the girls back in October (okay so they were only started in October...not sure when they were actually finished. I know before January) in a light bright blue for the darling handsome man in my life.

What Next!
This is turning into a once a week thing when I really mean to do it way more often than that. I swear the more I try the further behind I get. Last week I was just worried whether or not I would get the wireless network working to get myself online. Little did I know that was the least of my worries. Everything started out as mundane as can be. Thursday I worked my tail off doing deliveries. We went to my in-laws for dinner since my brother-in-law and sister-in-law were in from Indiana with their baby. You know I really have to keep reminding myself to try harder to et out of these things. I managed to make it through the night without any really rude comments. I swear if they could wrap this kid in bubble wrap they would. They have absolutely no clue!!!!! We all thought it would wear off after a while, but to put it plain and simple...they are nuts!!!!! Really really nuts. My sister-in-law is convined that the baby has known sign language from birth and has a sign for everything he wants. Trust me...I've had 4 kids....it just isn't that simple. I wish it were! I wouldn't have a dent in my forehead from banging it on the wall if it were. So basically...remind me next time...at all costs get out of the visit!!! The next day we headed up to the lake for a nice quiet Independence Day weekend. It was not to be. Our nanny called on Sunday morning, all our stuff is gone. We've been robbed! So into town we treck. Yep she's right...I wasn't sure she'd be wrong about a missing 50 inch tv, but you know, sometimes people over-look the most obvious things! So we spent Sunday here with half the police department trying to figure out where all our stuff was. Hopefully at this point they have some clue. While "they" were stealing one of our tvs they pulled then cable line out of the wall. I did say someone does not want me online...they really don't have to go to those lenghs to do it...just send me a note!! So back we trapse to the lake. The very next morning...phone rings at 6:30...it's our friends the police again. They want to know if it's okay to board up the window at our office that someone has thrown 2 large chunks of concrete through. Oh yes sure...why not...what else could possibly happen. Luckily the rest of the weekend was uneventful and we're back home and the wonderful cable guy came and we are up and running again!!!! For now!

Stupid Question of the Weekend

My mother in law wanted to know...why would a married woman with 3 kids want to go up in the space shuttle. Obviously it's been a long time since she's had kids and she never did have 3. So NASA...I'm here waiting...I'm sure I would still be able to hear my children whining from space. I'll bet there are some cool things you could study on knitting in space! The wireless network is up for the moment. It has a mind of its own really. We have no idea how we got it up and we have to idea what to do when it goes down but do the same pointless things over and over until eveything is up again. I'm sure some genius could tell us the one little magic thing we are doing by accident...but what's the fun in that. I turned my heel of the second sock in the sss pair ( I just wish these things would end). I did another star dishrag and started (to convince myself to work....and to show my husband that I like my gift) the sushi felted wallet that he got me. I'm doing it all in red with the little sushis (that's a word right?) on it. I am on a grand total of row 13 (oh wait that doesn't match the number of press releases so don't tell anyone) It must be 3 I just can't see straight. My darling husband bought a new (really old) car (project) yesterday. It's pretty cool....a 1990 mercedes that claims to have a transmission and smokes from some unknown source. But on the upside...he said the car won't get fixed until I have the money to go to holland with my dad and sister. So here's hoping. I'm thrilled to go but all I can think about is 10 hours of straight knitting on the way there and the way back and all day on the beach. Oh yeah and seeing my sister and nieces....that'll be cool too! Tomorrow I hope to post pics of the sweater and socks.....we'll see!

I am so behind on knitting it isn't even funny. Okay well it does make me laugh but only in one of those if I don't laugh I'm going to cry laughs. So it may look like it is really funny to me but no it's not. On the upside...I guess I have saved on yarn. But now I'm so far behind in stash aquisition that I'll have to do some power shopping...or convice the yarn fairly to stop by while I sleep...There is a yarn fairy right...there is no way I actually bought all this yarn myself. So I've finally finished that dang baby sweater (sans the buttons) and started on the second sock of a pair that I had second sock syndrome before I finished the first sock...yes I guess that can happen. Went to a neat yarn shop up by our lake house www.needlesandpins.com. Love having it so close have to go there every day we're up there now. I'm sure I'll never run out of things to buy...they have all the sock yarn a girl could want.

Today's project is getting a wireless network up and running at home....yeah I'm laughing again...and it's not funny stuff. This thing will be the death of me I'm sure. I am finally hooked up to the wired portion of it...but yes I did say that it's supposed to be a wireless network ( I'm supposed to have people for this) all the computers can see the network and connect but none can get online....I really need people for this. So if I write tomorrow...everything is fine...if I don't well....then we're not up and running and I'm still talking to tech support!!!!! Okay so they've been done a while I just haven't hand a minute to post the pictures here. I am currently working on (read racing a baby) a sweater for the soon to be newest member of the clan. It's the Knitpicks simple stipes sweater. I have 75% of a sleeve and the front, back and then put the whole dang thing together. Thank goodness babies are small and that I made the 12 month size. Trust me I know my own limitations. I am eternally shocked every time I finish something. I hope to get this thing done by the olympics so that I can start my 2 socks on 2 circs for the first time (lord help me). And then I can do my next socks for the six-sock KAL. Golly G I sure wish I had a couple more hands so that I could knit faster. So many ideas so little time. I want to make a pair of socks for my dad. We'll see if that happens. Bought some black opal (want to make it easy (on him not me) it's his first pair of hangknit socks) and then had to get some opal for myself too. Well yes I guess I better just stop typing and get back to knitting before the baby pops out to surpise eveyone.

I've really got to start posting here a little more than once a month. I finally finished the sweaters that I started for the girls before Halloween I think. Who knew that 2 year olds had such long arms...I thought the sleeves were never going to end. This is the pink one and the other is the same in purple. It is Superwash wool.

I have been working and working on my shadow of love socks. They are coming along...I will knit furiously until the deadline. You can kind of see the hearts showing themselves. I did find out that I was ssking wrong. Turns out it isn't supposed to be that hard...Who knew you weren't supposed to get winded knitting. Right now these socks are the only things I have on the needles. I need to get them finished and then I want to try 2 at a time on circulars.

In the meantime I knit a pair of quick booties for my soon-to-be niece or nephew.

If my Great-Grandmother knit socks on 4 double-pointed needles I'm surprised that she actually lived as long as she did. I think I know why....Because she gave up knitting socks on double point needles. I got down the cuff and then learned to knit them on two circulars. I have to say that is the easiest way to do it. If you are contemplating socks try it this way first. I'm not sure why anyone would torture themselves and do it any other way. I finished my first pair of sock. Just basic with an inch or so of ribbing on the top. I love them and I can't wait to make another pair (on circulars of coarse). My next pair will be the December pattern from the Six-sox yahoo group. I will start them as soon (okay maybe sooner) as I finish the two sweaters I started that I hoped to have done for Thanksgiving (they are now Christmas sweaters). Who knew 2 year olds had such long arms!!! I have one arm done and started on the second arm but I am chopping at the bit to start something else. Oh yeah..There was that crazy potholder in the middle there somewhere and the scarf made on the fly for my sil out of some funky fun stuff. Didn't even think to take a picture of it before I gave it to her.

Knit Socks or Die trying

Okay...Here are the pictures of the last knitting projects. I made it while watching the first Sox World Series Game to wear to the second game but it was wayyy too rainy. unfortunately I think I may have lost this scarf to the person holding it for the picture. She has not taken it off and is refusing to give it back. My first scary project was a had from the show Knitty Gritty. I have made the obiligtory scarves and I'm now on to other new adventures. I made a hat out of Berroco Suede and Plush. It turned out really cute. I will post pictures soon. I am working on the meema tote from the Stitch n Bitch book and a top down sweater for one of my grils. I will post pictures of those along with the hat. I hope to try some socks soon. That's way too many needles and it scares me but I'm determined cause I love socks. I can't wait to finish a project so that I can start another. I haven't figured out what I'm going to do next...maybe the socks. I'm so excited that my sister has started knitting and can't wait to see her scarf. I also can't wait to share yarn....I'll have to trade her for the miracle whip!
